NATO chief Mark Rutte made a stunning prediction recently about how a future World War III could start. He warned the next world war could start with Russia and China launching a coordinated, simultaneous attack against Taiwan in the Pacific and vs. NATO in Europe. He added this would take the globe “to the brink of Armageddon” (first link). He also put Iran and North Korea in the Russian-Chinese alliance. As anyone who has been reading my blog for any length of time would know, this statement by the NATO Chief could have been ripped right out of Ezekiel 38-39 in the Bible. The exact same thing is prophesied in Ezekiel 38 to occur at the end of this age as the opening act of a climactic World War III. The second link, third link and fourth link offer various perspectives on Rutte’s remarkable (and timely) prediction.
The Bible’s prophecies have much to say about the final World War III which will end our current age on earth and usher in the Millennial/Messianic Age ruled by Jesus Christ. Ezekiel 38:1-6 identifies Russia, China, Iran and their allies as members of the Russian-Chinese-led surprise attack which will be directed against all NATO nations and their global allies. Russia is identified as “Gog, Meshech and Tubal.” China is identified as a nation descended from Japheth which has a particularly huge population (“Gomer and all his bands”). “Persia” is modern-day Iran. “Togarmah of the North Quarters” is logically identified as Mongolia and the Siberian region of East Russia. “Libya” is derived from the Hebrew word “Put” of “Phut,” a son of Ham. This identifies peoples on the northern edge of Africa of which Libya is one. “Ethiopia” is derived from the Hebrew word “Cush,” which identifies a branch of the descendants of Ham. Cushites inhabit a broad swath of territory from the Horn of Africa through the Arabian Peninsula to India and Pakistan. I think such nations as Pakistan, Afghanistan, Somalia and perhaps Ethiopia are referenced here in Ezekiel 38:5.
Who is attacked by this huge eastern alliance? Most Christian followers of prophecy do not get the target of this attack correct. Overwhelmingly, they think the term “Israel”–which identifies the target of the Gog-Magog attack in Ezekiel 38–means the small Jewish nation on the Eastern Mediterranean shore. That is incorrect. In biblical prophetic terminology, the term “Israel” identifies the descendants of the ancient ten tribes of Israel which scattered from the old Promised Land to found other nations/empires (Parthia, Scythia, Carthage, etc.). The term “Judah” describes the Jewish descendants of the tribe of Judah. Some Christians realize that Zephaniah 2:1-10 is a prophecy about the Jews returning to the old Promised Land to found a new nation in the latter days. That is correct, and notice that in verse 7 the Jews who settled the Jewish state in 1948 are called “Judah” in this biblical prophecy. In Zechariah 12:1-11 and 14:1-16, the modern Jews are referred to as “Judah,” not Israel. As is shown in the filth link, President Harry Truman was surprised when the Jews named their new nation “Israel” in 1948. Truman expected them to name their nation Judea, after the tribal name of Judah.
The modern descendants of the ten tribes of Israel are identifiable in biblical prophecies about them. Genesis 49 offers clues regarding how to find them in the latter days and Revelation 7:1-8 affirms they will all be present on earth in our modern time–called the “latter days” in biblical prophecies. Russia and China are showing increasing belligerence toward other nations today. Most Americans didn’t notice that a few years ago, Russia claimed a right to take back Alaska (sixth link), and these nations have practiced bomber attacks on Alaska and Guam (seventh link). Much to President Trump’s disappointment, Vladimir Putin is showing no interest in a ceasefire in his war of aggression vs. Ukraine. Putin has found Ukraine to be a much tougher opponent than he expected, and his invasion has actually greatly strengthened NATO as Putin’s invasion motivated Sweden and Finland to join NATO and further motivated all NATO nations to set a lofty 5% goal of GDP to be spent on new military weaponry. How will World War III end? It will not end well for Russia, China and their allies. NATO Chief Rutte is right on target with his warning about World War III starting with a Russian-Chinese invasion of NATO and Indo-Pacific nations such as Taiwan. That Ezekiel 38-39 so accurately predicted approximately 25 centuries ago the details of our modern world proves that only a Creator God who moves and directs human affairs could have inspired such Ezekiel’s prophecy about 2500 years ago and bring it to pass in our modern reality.
