Sometimes events occur which require comment quickly, and this is one such occasion. As readers realize, the USA and Iran have been involved with sensitive discussions trying to give Iran one last chance to dismantle its nuclear weapons facilities before the USA and Israel act on their longstanding position that Iran cannot be allowed to have nuclear weapons. The reason is obvious: Iran has long threatened to “wipe Israel off the map,” and obtaining nuclear warheads would enable Iran to try to do exactly that. Since Iran calls Israel “the little Satan,” and the USA “the Great Satan,” it is possible Iran might attack the USA with nukes as well if it develops them.
Iran has been warned over the years that its nuclear facilities and oil/energy facilities are legitimate targets if Iran does not cease its nuclear enrichment/weapons plans. Reports from various media sources cite international agencies that Iran is very close to having enough enriched uranium to make nuclear weapons. It does seem that Iran is stalling for time in its desultory negotiations with the USA about Iran needing to halt its nuclear programs. That delaying tactic worked with the Obama and Biden administrations, but it may not work with the Trump administration.
I think Iran just received a “wake up call;” an inducement to take the nuclear negotiations seriously. A large Iranian seaport which handles an estimated 20% of Iran’s international trade just had a truly massive explosion The first two links offer a view at the extent of the fireball and explosive power of this blast. The first link has a video showing how extensive the fires are at this port facility. Reports indicate that it was so powerful it broke windows miles away from the point of explosion. Estimates of the dead and inured keep rising as time goes by. The last total I saw while writing this post was a death toll of 8 and an injury total of more than 750. The amount of physical damage is obviously immense. Indeed, the port itself may not be open for any business any time soon.
Reports issued thus far indicate that the main source of the huge explosion was a supply of Chinese rocket fuel for Iran’s missile programs. Iran had used up a great deal of its previous supply of this propellant in its failed mass missile attacks against Israel some time ago. Footage of the seaport explosion seemed to indicate an initial blast which then ignited a much larger explosion at this Iranian seaport. I think Iran was just “sent a message.” The mass damage at the Iranian seaport shows that Iran is very vulnerable to the actions of those Iran openly hates and threatens. Iran should learn that not only are its nuclear facilities at risk of sudden destruction by military attacks, its oil storage and loading capabilities are also very vulnerable to attack. I have seen no reports that this damaging explosion was caused by any attacking air or naval attack. It seems to likely be a clandestine action by a third party.
It is my view that the timing of this explosion (at the very time negotiations between the USA and Iran are at a sensitive point) is not coincidental. The second link also notes this connection. I think Iran was given a foretaste of the damage that will occur all over Iran if it does not give up it nuclear programs. This destructive signal also should inform Iran that it is nearly out of time to find any negotiated settlement in which Iran can avoid vastly greater destructions unless it ends its nuclear weapons program and dismantles it under international supervision. As an oil-rich nation, Iran does not need a civilian nuclear program. Since it has openly threatened the existence of the Israeli nation, Iran cannot be allowed to have any nuclear weapons program. It is possible that while Iran is stalling in the negotiations with the USA, Israel may act on its own as it is under a more imminent threat.
If a pre-emptive strike vs. Iran’s nuclear facilities is conducted, that may not eliminate the nuclear threat from Iran. What if Iran buys some “black market” nuclear warheads from North Korea or some other nation? Such nukes could be transported via a “third party” merchant ship to a harbor in Israel or the USA where the nuke (or nukes) could be detonated. Indeed, what if Iran has already bought such concealable nuclear warheads and has them already loaded on merchant ships making voyages with Israeli and /or American ports of call? I hope Israeli and American intelligence agencies have considered this possibility and have prepared for it.
With the wars between Russia and the Ukraine, Israel and Hamas and the USA and the Houthis raging, the world is edging toward a wider conflict. India was just victimized by a terrorist attack against Hindu tourists in Kashmir and Pakistan is blamed. India has cut off an important water supply to Pakistan and Pakistan has cut off overflight rights to all Indian aircraft. These are typical pre-war preparations. India and Pakistan have fought several wars since World War II and it is hoped their current confrontation does not result in open warfare. The USA has recently sold deep penetrating bombs to Israel; the type of bombs that can penetrate a large expanse of concrete or rock before detonating. Obviously, the USA has them too and there are now two American carrier battle groups in the region.
Jesus Christ prophesied that there would be “wars and rumors of wars” in the latter-day time leading up to his Return. We are clearly living in those biblically-prophesied latter days. I’ve mentioned my article, Are We Living in the Biblical Latter Days?, in previous posts, but I’ll mention it again for the benefit of new readers. The information in that article should be read by all. It cites specific biblical prophecies for the latter days and shows how they have been very specifically fulfilled in our modern age, confirming the Bible is Divinely-inspired and that there is a Creator who is making sure his biblical prophecies get fulfilled on schedule.
I noticed some major American media websites had little or nothing about this massive explosion which has just taken out a significant percentage of Iranian shipping capacity. These same websites had vast coverage about the Pope’s death and the imminent conclave to pick his successor. There was also a lot of coverage about the NFL football draft being conducted in the USA.
I’ve included the third link (a web search page) so readers can refer to many more stories about the huge explosion at the Iranian seaport. This is a very important development which should be watched closely. It is possible that Iran has just received a violent last warning before pre-emptive strikes against its nuclear facilities become a “go.” If you think that this mass explosion of Chinese-Iranian weapons material during the last-ditch American-Iranian talks to achieve Iranian nuclear disarmament was just a coincidence, it is my opinion that you may be a candidate to buy some prime oceanfront property in Nebraska.
