As readers of this blog know, China is engaged in a very rapid militarization program. It is steadily adding additional new vessels to its naval fleet. What many Americans do not know is the steady rate at which the number of ships in the US Navy is declining. An article documenting this trend appeared at the website of the World Tribune (see link below).
The article noted that while the US Navy had 594 warships under President Reagan, it now has only 276 ships and it slated to be further reduced to 180 ships within a 17-year time frame. Given that China is rapidly increasing the warships in its fleet, the steady weakening of the US Navy is not only odd but dangerous. This article also discusses the apparently-imminent US approval of a Treaty called the UN Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS). This treaty would subordinate US maritime rights to a UN body. It was rejected by President Reagan and other subsequent presidents, but President Bush and the current US Congress seem ready to yield considerable US sovereignty to the UN via this treaty.
If you have access to Newsweek magazine, I urge you to read George Will’s column (“150 Seconds Over Baghdad”) in the September 24, 2007 issue. Mr. Will’s column not only cites the “frayed” status of the US Army and Marine Corps, but also documents that the inventory of warplanes in the US Air Force is now exceptionally old and in need of modernization. In every aspect, the US military is being worn out and weakened. President Bush and the US Congress know this and they are allowing the problems to continue and get worse. Does this bother you? It should. Vast sums go into the US Defense Dept. budget, but it is amazing how little “bang for the buck” the taxpayers receive. Few new weapons systems are being built, and military equipment is not being repaired and replaced in a timely manner.
I urge readers to examine the information in the attached link. If you are bothered by the steady erosion of US military power and national sovereignty by the current Bush administration, you would be well-advised to contact your US Senators to oppose ratification of the UNCLOS treaty and to urge your state’s Congressional delegation to start strengthening the US military instead of steadily weakening it.
A fulfillment of Ezekiel 38’s prophecy looks more inevitable all the time. That prophecy warns that Russia, China, Iran and other nations will form an alliance which will attack the USA, the NATO nations and their allies at the end of this age just prior to the return of Jesus Christ. The targeted nations are called “Israel” in the Bible which means the targeted nations will the ones descended from the ancient kingdom of Israel (the ten tribes of Israel). When the Bible refers to Jews/Israelis in prophecy, it uses the term “Judah” (as in Zephaniah 2 and Zechariah 12 and 14). Modern Christendom mistakenly thinks the term “Israel” in Ezekiel 38 means the Israelis. This allows them to entertain the fatuous notion that when the alliance of Russia, China and Iran launch their attack, the citizens of the Western world will be able to much popcorn in their living rooms while they watch this apocalyptic war on FOX-News and CNN. They will be shocked when they realize the war prophesied in Ezekiel 38 will occur in their own nations, their own cities and their own backyards. It will be a total world war which will also fulfill Jesus Christ’s prophecy that a time would come just prior to his return that “all flesh would perish” unless he intervened. We do not know how much time we have left, but we are approaching the time in which this prophecy is going to be fulfilled.
No force in the Universe can stop the prophecy of Ezekiel 38 from being fulfilled. In Ezekiel 38:8-10, the Creator promises that, at the appropriate time in his Divine timetable, he will “put the thought” into the minds of the leaders of Russia, China, Iran, et.al. to make them attack the USA, NATO, etc. The more that President Bush and the US Congress overextend and weaken the US military, the more vulnerable the western world becomes. As the leaders of the western world weaken their militaries and submerge their national sovereignties into international entities, the more they hasten the fulfillment of Ezekiel 38.
