Previous postings (and my research report on “Ezekiel 38-39” available at the Prophecy link at this site) have identified Russia, China and Iran as the leaders of the “Gog-Magog” alliance which Ezekiel 38 prophesies will attack the nations of the West in the latter days. However, the attacking alliance will have many other nations in it. Ezekiel 38:6 states that besides the nations named as being part of the attacking alliance, there will be “many people” [or “many nations”] with them. This blog cites two nations in our own hemisphere which may be a part of that alliance.
Cuba is an obvious choice to part of that attacking alliance because it is a Communist nation and served as a base for planned Russian operations against the USA as far back as the Cuban Missile Crisis in 1961. Communist China and Communist Cuba are natural allies along with the new anti-American Russia headed by Vladimir Putin. Cuba’s location makes it an ideal location for assisting in any surprise attack on the USA.
Hugo Chavez is also rapidly heading into the embrace of Russia, China and Iran. You may have seen recent media reports showing that Venezuela’s Hugo Chavez has had friendly meetings with the leaders of Iran. On April 29, 2007, an AP story reprinted in the Sioux Falls Argus-Leader confirmed Venezuela is also developing an alliance with Russia. The article was entitled “Chavez wants missile defense for Venezuela,” and it revealed Chavez wants to build a missile-defense system to defend Venezuela’s airspace. “We’re going to have a tremendous air-defense system…with missiles capable of reaching 200 kilometers (124 miles), said Venezuela’s leader. He said the Venezuelan military was evaluating air-defense systems from Russia, Belarus and Iran (all nations sure to be in the Ezekiel 38 alliance headed by “Gog and Magog”). Obviously, such a missile-defense system (to be followed later by first-strike missiles?) is intended to be used against the USA and its allies. Chavez also indicated he was spending “more than $561 million for factories to build…AK-103 assault rifles, munitions and detonators,” as well as facilities to train pilots to fly Russian helicopters and maintain them in Venezuela.
Venezuela is heading enthusiastically under Hugo Chavez into an alliance with Russia and Iran, and he is trying to persuade other Latin American nations to also join the growing anti-American and anti-Western alliance. Venezuela may become a staging area and weapons depot in this hemisphere for the eventual attack against the USA and the West prophesied by Ezekiel 38.
