This link, from Fox News, is about an incident where two Russian bombers, armed with nuclear-tipped cruise missiles, flew a circular flight pattern around the US island of Guam in the Pacific Ocean. That nuclear-armed Russian bombers flew such an aggressively close mission around a major US base indicates Russia is returning to the bellicose and threatening mentality it had during the Cold War.
The US military forces on Guam are vital to any US war plan to counter China in the event of a war in the South China Sea or elsewhere in the western Pacific region. I think the Russian bombers’ mission was to remind the USA that Guam itself is very vulnerable to an air attack. In the event of a major war, Russia just reminded the USA that Guam could be attacked by long-range, air-launched cruise missiles—fired from either Russian or Chinese warplanes. Whether those missiles in a future war would be tipped with nuclear or conventional warheads will not be known until they arrive and explode. If any nuclear-tipped missiles penetrate the air defenses of Guam, you can say “bye bye” to the US military forces on Guam.
This should serve as a necessary warning to the US military to upgrade their air defenses for not only Guam, but also all major US air military bases. In the event of a major war, those Russian bombers wouldn’t have flown so close to Guam. They would have launched their cruise missiles at Guam from a long distance away from that island. I very much hope the US military has more defensive weaponry to shoot down large numbers of incoming cruise and ballistic missiles than have been made known to date. The increasingly warlike stance and military build-ups in China, Russia and Iran should make it evident that all US bases and the US homeland itself is becoming more vulnerable to a surprise attack. The recent movie, a remake of the original Red Dawn, made this point, but it featured a silly plot that North Korea could launch such an attack. As I noted in a post a long time ago, this original movie was going to feature a surprise invasion of the USA by China. That would be far more realistic. However, China must have successfully pressured the US government to pressure the movie industry to alter the movie’s plot. China doesn’t want millions of armed Americans to see a movie which depicts exactly what Ezekiel 38-39 prophesies will occur.
As readers of this blog know, Ezekiel 38-39 prophesies that Russia, China and Iran will form an anti-American/anti-western alliance in the latter days of this age and that they will launch a joint surprise attack against the USA and its global allies at the very end of this “latter day” age. The first part of the prophecy has already been fulfilled before our eyes. Now we must wait to see in what year in the future the second part of the prophecy (the actual surprise attack) will occur. It will doubtless occur when it is least expected. For an in-depth discussion of this biblically-prophesied, age-ending war, please read my article, What Ezekiel 38-39 Reveal About a Future World War III [PDF]. There are other biblical prophecies that also apply specifically to the “latter days” of this age (such as Genesis 48-49, Jeremiah 30, etc.) but few are so specific and detailed as Ezekiel 38-39. It is one of the most important (and least understood) prophecies in the Bible.
