Sometimes a picture really is “worth a thousand words.” After I posted my December 23, 2008 blog, The Moral Rot on Wall Street Starting to go Public,” a reader sent me these two political cartoons by Tom Toles of The Washington Post. They capture the essence of the current corruption on Wall Street so well that I am passing them on to all readers of this blog. Be sure to read the small print at the bottom of each cartoon. Although I’m sure Mr. Toles didn’t realize it or intend it, his first cartoon graphically satirizes the unholy alliance of the “merchants of the earth” (the large multinational corporations in banking and all other industries) with the “kings of the earth” (the political leaders and regulators) which Revelation 18:3 prophesied would occur in the global business sector during the latter days.
