Several political developments are worth of mentioning as they are entirely consistent with biblical prophecy. Italy has just again elected a new government which will be pro-American. The British Prime Minister, Gordon Brown, has reaffirmed the British-American special relationship, and Germany and France previously replaced “anti-American” leaders with pro-American heads-of-state. This results in an unusually positive current relationship among these primary nations of NATO. There is no guarantee that such a state of affairs will last, but it happens so rarely that it is worth noting. Daniel 2:41-44 prophesy that in the latter days of this age, there will be a final world alliance (built on the institutions of ancient Babylon) which is characterized by the “feet and ten toes” of “potter’s clay” and “iron” in the great image seen by King Nebuchadnezzar of ancient Babylon. Those who wish to learn more about the institutions of ancient Babylon can see them discussed at my article “What Kind of Captivity?” available at the articles link of this website.

Biblical students will readily recognize that the “iron” in the feet and ten toes represents the people and nations of the ancient Roman Empire. Many do not realize who the “clay” represents. It cannot indicate any of the empires previously mentioned in Daniel 2 as it is a new material. The Bible identifies the “potters clay” in Jeremiah 18:3-6 as the people of the ten tribes of Israel. My books identify the modern ten tribes of Israel as the USA, the UK, many European nations and other nations settled by Europeans. NATO is exactly what was prophesied in Daniel 2:41-44: a fractious alliance of the nations and peoples of the old Roman Empire with the nations and people of the house of Israel (the ten tribes). Further cementing that alliance this week is the visit of Pope Benedict to America where he was met with high regalia by President Bush. Biblical prophecy indicates that whatever events transpire in the future, this alliance of nations will exist until the end of this age.

The first link below cites the Czech government as announcing that it favors the addition of the Israeli nation to NATO, and that the Czech Republic would support the Israelis with “forces and capabilities.” This follows a recent visit by German Prime Minister Merkel to the Israeli nation where she gave very strong support to the Israelis in her address to the Knesset. These developments further support the expectations at this website that the Israelis will be allied to the “iron and clay” nations of NATO named above at the end of this age. Jeremiah 30 is a latter-day prophecy (see verse 24) which foretells that all the nations of the house of Israel and the house of Judah (the Jews) will be attacked at the same time by a common enemy at the very end of our age. The common enemy will be the Gog-Magog alliance of Ezekiel 38 (also called “the kings of the east” in Revelation 16:12). Ezekiel 38 describes their attack upon the nations of the modern house of Israel (NATO and its allies) while Revelation 16:12 and Zechariah 14 describe their simultaneous attack against the Israelis.

There was a very brief news item in the April 16, 2008 issue of USA Today (see p. 5A) which reported that Brazil and Russia “signed an agreement to jointly develop high-tech jet fighters and satellite launch vehicles.” This is a surprising development as it could reveal a shift in Brazil’s allegiance from the West to the Gog-Magog alliance. This possibility will need to be watched with vigilance in the future, and it is not clear how this will end. The USA is; however, losing more and more of South America’s allegiance. Cuba has been Communist for decades and Venezuela has become very friendly with Iran and hostile to the USA under its leader, Hugo Chavez. Bolivia and Ecuador have tilted in the same direction as Venezuela. Nicaragua has elected Daniel Ortega, the anti-American leader of the old Sandinistas. With Brazil signing a military agreement with Russia, the USA had better wake up to these ominous developments in its own hemisphere. However, the Bush administration seems as fixated on Afghanistan and Iraq as Captain Ahab was fixated on Moby Dick (in a famous old novel). The Bush administration seems to be oblivious to how badly the USA’s interests are slipping in many domestic and foreign arenas. It is too busy exhausting the US military forces in Afghanistan and Iraq. The next US President will have some serious fence-mending to do around the world and he/she will also have to rebuild the US military which President Bush has weakened with overuse.

This blog ends with more news on China’s growing preparations for war with the USA and the West. The second link below offers further documentation that Chinese cruise missile technology has already dramatically surpassed the USA’s abilities to defend against them. Previous blogs at this site have warned about the new Russian “sizzler” missile which can attack US aircraft carriers (or any target) at supersonic speeds. The USA has no such missile and has no known defense against the new Russian missiles. The link reports that China already has equipped 8 of its submarines with these Russian “sizzler” missiles which are designed to sink American aircraft carriers. The dilatory US war planners aren’t even planning a defensive system against the sizzler missile until 2014. Its a good bet that Russia and China intend to use these missiles against US carriers before the USA has a defensive system in place. If Russia and China share these carrier-killing missiles with Iran, the Persian Gulf will be unsafe for any US or western naval vessel. American and western war planners better wake up soon or they will find themselves experiencing a new “Pearl Harbor” type surprise attack from Russia, China and Iran. Of course, that is exactly what Ezekiel 38 prophesies will occur at the end of this age.

The third link below, from the 2002 Congressional Record, shows that the US Congress was warned six years ago about the warlike Chinese intentions and its growing abilities to attack the USA. It is worth your reading. Congress was warned that Chinese intermediate- and long-range ballistic missiles were a threat to both the US mainland and the Pacific Fleet. Congress was further warned that a Chinese surprise attack could in one hour damage or destroy so many US military assets that China would have the momentum to win a war against the USA. This scenario sounds exactly what is prophesied to occur in Ezekiel 38 against the unsuspecting nations of the latter day ten tribes of Israel. Based on the 2002 warning in the Congressional Record, the dithering US Congress can’t say it wasn’t warned when that future attack occurs.
