This post is to point out and document that the level of turmoil in the politics of the world’s nations is rapidly increasing. Tensions are ratcheting upward for nations great and small. This does help set the stage for the fulfillment of a major biblical prophecy. Let’s look at some of the traumatic events affecting the nations.
South Korea’s president somehow got the idea that declaring martial law upon his nation would be a great idea. What was he smoking when he thought that idea up? The opposition party controls South Korea’s parliament and it voted to cancel the martial law declaration, which the president then did do. However, the South Korean president’s political future is now “toast” as are perhaps the international commitments he has made (first link). I am unaware how long this state of confusion will exist in the South Korean government, but it has major ramifications for the security of Japan, Taiwan and Ukraine. South Korea is a linchpin in any defense of Taiwan from a Chinese invasion. The USA and Japan would need South Korean support to save Taiwan; however, the reach of this South Korean confusion stretches much further. The second link notes that Ukraine was in negotiations with South Korea to invite their military forces to Ukraine to help fight the North Koreans who Russia imported to fight as mercenaries in Russia’s war against Ukraine.
That a large nation like Russia needs to import 10-12,000 North Korean mercenaries to continue the fight vs. Ukraine means that Russia is scraping the bottom of the barrel of its military forces in its war vs. Ukraine. South Korea has become a major arms producer, and it is in the process of completing a massive order for tanks, warplanes and heavy weapons sold to Poland to help that nation repel any future Russian-led invasion. If South Korea does send military forces to help Ukraine, it could quickly result in South Korean and North Korean forces fighting each other on Ukrainian and/or Russian soil. If this happens, it will fuel war fervor in both South and North Korea and fighting could erupt between North and South Korea on the Korean Peninsula. This is another good reason for there to be an armistice or truce between Ukraine and Russia. President-Elect Trump has proclaimed his intention to quickly settle this war when he comes into office. I wish him well in accomplishing that goal!
The third link covers the recent re-eruption of the Syrian Civil War. After being a major news story for some time, this has been a fairly quiet region for years with rebels holding on to a small region of the nation. However, the Syrian government under Bashir Assad was kept in office by military support from Russia and Iran. Those nations are now weakened and distracted by warfare in the Ukraine, Gaza and Lebanon. The rebels seized the offensive and quickly took over control of Syrian provinces centered on Idlib, Aleppo and Hama. Russia still had some warplanes in Syria and they have attacked rebel positions, but the Syrian central government forces seem weak so far. This civil war will complicate Mideast peace efforts. Russia is fully committed in Ukraine and Iran is in no position to help Assad as it has learned in two missile exchanges with Israel that Iran’s military is not ready for a “prime time” battle with Israel. Iran’s realization that its military is weaker than it realized is actually a positive for Mideast peace chances.
You may have noticed that the French government has fallen after a no-confidence vote in the French Parliament (fourth link). The instability in France may take a long time to solve. Its parliament is divided fairly equally between a Leftist coalition, a centrist coalition and a rightist coalition. They each have roughly 1/3rd of the seats in parliament. The Left and Right coalitions cooperated to overthrow the centrist French government, but don’t expect them to cooperate any further than that. The situation cannot change for some time as France cannot constitutionally hold another election until sometime next July (or thereabouts). A good analysis of the gridlock in French politics can be found in the fifth link. The sixth link reports that the French gridlock will have negative repercussions on the EU as a whole as well as on France’s internal finances. It also observes that the recently-elected government of Labor Party Keir Starmer in the UK is losing favor with the British populace rather quickly. The British public soundly rejected the Tories in the last election and they now appear to be losing interest in the Labour Party as well. If the Labour Party continues to stumble in its policies, it could open a path for a third party, namely the Reform Party of Nigel Farage. Farage’s sympathies are clear. On America’s recent election night, Farage was seen at the party being held at Donald’s Trump’s Mar-a-Lago estate.
You may also have noticed that just after Donald Trump was elected to be the next President of the USA, the government of Germany also collapsed. Its Socialist-led government fell apart, and new elections will have to be held (the last I read, such elections would be held in February next year). This has reignited the on-going fears about the AfD party each time Germany holds an election. The AfD is an anti-immigrant party that has been labeled as “Fascist” by the other parties. I’m not sure if that is true or not. It could be true or that label could simply be a pejorative term the other parties all use to keep the AfD out of power as the other German parties are all globalist parties and the AfD is a nationalist party, not a globalist one. The continual fear of the German parties is that the AfD party will attract enough votes to make it impossible for the other parties to form a coalition government. If that kind of stalemate occurs, Germany will be essentially leaderless for some time.
