The link below (from the Financial Times/Reuters) reports that military ties between India and the USA are growing steadily stronger. These two nations have conducted a “massive joint military exercise” which serves to illustrate “their deepening security ties.” The military exercise included battle tanks and transport aircraft. This exercise was “the biggest-ever war games between the two countries,” and I find it significant that this exercise was intended to improve the cooperation skills between American and Indian army forces in a land battle scenario. American ground forces are still involved in Afghanistan and President Obama (the “Peace President”) wants to expand the USA’s war in Afghanistan.

American forces in Afghanistan are in a very precarious position as they have no secure lines of supply and no secure route of retreat. If Pakistan either becomes dominated by Islamicist radical forces or divides into two nations with the northern portion controlled by the Taliban, US forces may have no choice but to fight their way out of Central Asia in order to save themselves (much as Greek forces under Xenophon had to do so circa 400 BC). If you look on a globe, the only escape route out of Asia for American forces in Afghanistan would be to fight their way across northern Pakistan into friendlier territory inside India. Such an event would require American and Indian forces to fight alongside each other as allies using such weapons systems as battle tanks and transport aircraft (which were used in the recent Indian-American war games). Maybe this very contingency plan was being practiced in this recent Indian-American war game.

The article below notes that India and the USA share concerns about both the Pakistan/Afghanistan theater and the rising military power of China. The USA and India have previously held joint naval exercises and the two nations signed a major nuclear cooperation accord not long ago. All these actions confirm that the USA and India are moving into a stronger alliance with each other. This alliance makes complete sense for both nations. India is surrounded by nuclear-armed rivals (Pakistan and China). India intensely needs nuclear-armed allies of its own. The USA, with its nuclear weaponry and a large navy to help India’s smaller navy, is an obvious good choice as a strategic ally. While not mentioned in this article, India has also drawn steadily closer to the Israelis, another nuclear-armed nation in Southern Asia.

In my writings over the years, I predicted that this alliance would come into existence based on the prophecy of Ezekiel 38:13. This prophecy states that Tarshish and the “young lion” nations in the latter days along with Sheba and Dedan, would not be part of the Gog-Magog alliance’s attack against the western nations of the house of Israel in the latter days. In my article, Japan’s Role in Biblical Prophecy (see second link below), I discuss the prophesied end-time alliance of Japan, India and the “young tiger” nations of Asia with the USA and the western nations. This article includes a link to a blog I wrote in May, 2007 which offers considerable detail about the prophesied alliance between India and the USA in the latter days. The more that India draws closer to the USA in a military alliance, the more evident it becomes that India is, indeed, the prophesied “Sheba and Dedan” of Ezekiel 38:13. If so, this alliance was prophesied over 2,500 years ago to come to pass in our time, and it is happening exactly as God prophesied.

I’ll conclude this blog with added thoughts about Japan. Japan recently held an election in which the dominant political party was replaced by a new one which pledged a more independent course of action for Japan. Based on Ezekiel 38:13, I expect Japan to remain in the western alliance militarily. Japanese-American military ties are very deep, and each nation badly needs the other as an ally against China’s rising military power. Since Japan is a non-nuclear power and is located very close to China, Japan’s need for the USA as a counterweight to China is very strong. Japan is, I’m sure, well-aware that China would like to do to Tokyo what Japan did to Nanking in World War II. Japan will need the USA to prevent such a thing from happening in the future as China’s military power grows ever-stronger.

While I expect Japanese-American military ties to remain in place, I wouldn’t be the least bit surprised to see Japan’s Central Bank and Treasury Department take independent positions versus the U.S. Federal Reserve Board and the U.S. Treasury Department. For many years, the Japanese Central Bank has functioned practically as a wholly-owned subsidiary of the U.S. Federal Reserve Board in monetary and interest rate matters. That era is apparently over. Given the prominence of the Japanese yen on world markets, Japan may even become one of the “seven heads and ten horns” which are prophesied in Revelation 17-18 to overthrow the global dominance of “Babylon the Great” (Wall Street banks, the U.S. Federal Reserve Board. etc.) in the latter days. Indeed, given the growing sentiment in the U.S. Congress to do an extensive audit of the U.S. Federal Reserve Board, the USA itself may be one of the “seven heads and ten horns” which will “overthrow” the dominance of Babylon the Great’s global money system in the latter days.

However, when the battles of World War III begin, the prophecy of Ezekiel 38 argues that both India and Japan will make common cause with the USA and the western nations. They will have no choice. Their joint survival will depend on it.
