In October, Israel launched a retaliatory strike against what was described as Iranian conventional military sites and air defense systems. This was in retaliation for Iran’s second large missile attack against Israeli targets on its homeland. It was hardly a secret that Israel wanted to hit Iran’s nuclear and energy facilities to prevent Iran from obtaining nuclear weapons and rob Iran of a major inflow of money from oil exports–which Iran uses to fund terrorist entities like Hamas, Hezbollah and the Houthis. This would have made complete, logical sense from Israeli security perspectives.

However, the Biden administration heavily pressured Israel into limiting Israel to strike Iran’s non-critical conventional weapons sites but not Iran’s energy and nuclear sites. Why the Biden administration was so protective of Iran makes no sense from any logical point of view. The only explanation I could see was that the Biden administration was trying desperately to head off a major Mideast war before the US presidential election. The Biden administration wanted most urgently to arrange some kind of peace treaty or “ceasefire” before the election to help Biden’s re-election chances (which later became the Harris election chances). Israel was in a major bind. Not knowing who would win the US presidential election, it had to choose between capitulating to Biden’s demands or acting in the Israeli security interest. It chose to walk a fine line between the two options.

Israel did not hit Iran’s energy facilities to placate Biden/Harris and it was originally thought that Israel also declined to attack any Iranian nuclear facility. Israel did wipe out much of Iran’s air defense capabilities. However, it has now come to light that Israeli military forces did attack, and apparently destroy, a “top secret Iranian nuclear facility” in that same raid. The first three links describe what really happened during the second Israeli retaliatory attack. The first link reports that Israeli intelligence identified the top-secret Iranian facility and hit it as part of its second retaliatory strike vs. Iran. The second link describes the attack against this secret Iranian nuclear facility as a “missile attack.” Given that the Iranian facility was almost certainly located some distance underground to protect it, the Israelis may have used their Jericho ICBMs to carry big enough warheads to destroy the site. Bunker-buster bombs may also have been carried under larger Israeli IDF warplanes, but that would not fit the description of a “missile attack.” It also disclosed that the secret Iranian nuclear facility was manufacturing the “detonators” needed to set off a nuclear warhead when it is used.

The third link cites Israel’s official confirmation that it did hit the Iranian nuclear facility as part of its second retaliatory raid. There are clearly still many tensions between the Israeli government and the Biden administration. Biden’s policy decisions are very hard to understand. Israel has a vital security interest in destroying the ability of Iran to (A) prevent Iran from ever obtaining nuclear warheads, (B) to prevent Iran from launching additional ballistic missile strikes vs Israel, and (C) to destroy Hamas and Hezbollah as effective fighting forces vs. Israel. Israel also has a vital interest in destroying Iran’s energy facilities as that would cut off Iran’s funding source to support terrorist proxies in the Mideast and elsewhere. The fourth link acknowledges that Israel, in order to protect its security interest, has had to sometimes “disregard” the requests of the Biden administration in its wars vs. Iran and the Iranian proxies.

Notice how often I’ve used the term “the Biden administration” in this post instead of the term “President Biden.” No one really knows who has been in charge at the White House. It is clearly not Biden himself, who is very evidently in a state of advancing senility. He was recently shown at the G-20 meeting wandering away aimlessly from a press conference and from a group photo with the other G-20 leaders (fifth link). These AWOL moments by Biden were shown on many world media outlets, and they confirm Biden is a senile shadow of his old self. Was it his staff that was really in charge? I’m sure it wasn’t VP Harris as she speaks in her own language of “word salad” and showed an inability to form any opinion on vital issues in interviews during the presidential election. Was it ex-president Obama that was really in charge in recent years while hiding in the background?

It is unfortunate that we have to wait till January 20th to have President-Elect Donald Trump take office. It means the USA is essentially leaderless for another two months. Trump is already taking and making calls with world leaders according to media reports, and these exchanges with world leaders will allow Trump to “hit the ground running” when he takes office. I anticipate Trump will take decisive actions on many fronts when he takes office, but this post is focused on American-Israeli relations and the ongoing Mideast war. The sixth link reports that President Trump and Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu are “aligning strategies” now during the interregnum in Washington, DC. We will surely see a unified alliance between Israel and the USA after Trump takes office. It would not surprise me to see Israel unleashed to wipe out Iran’s energy and nuclear facilities in a major strike and remove Iran from the world scene as a world power or threat to other nations in the Mideast. If Iran is essentially disarmed, the Sunni Arab nations will not need to fear Iran and they will be far more likely to join a revitalized “Abraham Accords” that was a major foreign policy achievement of the first Trump administration.

Does all the above fit into the framework of biblical prophecy? It does. Genesis 49:8-9 prophesies that Judah (the Israelis/Jews) will be like a “lion’s whelp” (or cub) in the latter days and that it would make a “prey” out of its enemies and its hand will be “in the neck of its enemies” in the latter days. The term “lion’s cub” aptly fits the Jewish nation in the Mideast, it is a young and small nation, having little land mass and being in existence only since 1948. However, it has the nature of a lion among its national traits. It has been victorious in a series of wars since its inception and its victory against many surrounding nations in 1948 was a major miracle–showing the hand of God was involved in that development (fulfilling Zephaniah 2 and Zechariah 12). The Israelis have effectively destroyed Hamas and are in the process of destroying Hezbollah. Hamas should surrender, lay down its weapons and surrender all hostages. If Hamas has not done that and is still holding US citizens as hostages when President Trump takes office, Hamas will almost surely taste President Trump’s wrath. I would expect Israel to be given a free hand in destroying Iran’s energy and nuclear facilities, and if the Houthis are still firing missiles at international shipping heading to/from Egypt’s Suez Canal when Trump takes office, the Houthis will likely taste the same “shock and awe” treatment that Trump gave ISIS when he came into office the first time.

When President Trump comes back into office, the USA will be instantly respected again on the world scene. It should be an interesting experience to watch the next four years unfold!
