Over the years, I’ve received many warnings of imminent major crises and prophetic messages from varied sources who predicted various biblical prophetic events on specific dates. I have no doubt that many of them were entirely well-meaning, but so far, all have had one thing in common. They proved to be wrong. However, I’ve never witnessed a time like the present where my computer’s email inbox is filling up with warnings from all kinds of sources, both secular and religious, that imminent dangers and major crises are about to take place in our immediate future. Various warnings indicate that a major global crisis will hit the world in September or October of this year, and others offer later dates. I write specific date-predictions on my calendar to see if any do come true. Currently, I have specific secular/religious warnings on my calendar for global crises that are predicted by various sources to occur on September 14, 16, 23 and 28, October 7, 15 and 20 as well as November 11. The predicted crises include investment market collapses, a global currency “re-set,” new global or regional currencies being introduced, a comet hitting the earth, massive earthquakes, etc.

I make no such date-specific predictions, but it does feel to me that we are entering a period of unprecedented risk of such dangers occurring. I have received so many such warnings from not only credible secular sources, but also from Christian sources from a variety of denominational backgrounds that I believe I must comment on them. The most common predictions involve a fiscal collapse re: equity and bond markets, a new global currency arrangement detrimental to the US dollar, etc., so I have placed that risk in the title of this post. If any of these crises do take place, what should you do now to prepare for it and what should you do when/if such crises do occur. The Bible’s prophecies are clear that major crises such as those named above will occur in the latter days of our age before Jesus Christ returns. I, myself, warned in a post last year that the year 2015 could be a pivotal year for Bible prophecy due to the confluence of several numerical timetables reaching their fulfillments simultaneously in the year 2015. These factors were a series of 7-year cycles with major events, a 70-year cycle and the conclusion of a series of “blood moons” in autumn of 1025.

First, let’s consider credible secular warnings that a time of great danger is approaching. The first link and second link feature warnings from Richard Celente, a prognosticator whose investment market predictions have been featured in mainstream media sources and he has been right in various of his predictions. He has grim forecasts about financial crises that are about to happen. The third link is from Money and Markets, a website associated with the Weiss Educational Services, a respected source of mainstream financial analysis. It also has grim predictions of imminent dangers for financial markets, the US dollar, etc. The fourth link is from a financial analyst who writes with an “attitude,” but he has been warning about the corruption of global/American financial elites for years and his longtime assertion of deep corruption among the ruling political and financial/banking elites does fit very well with the biblical prophecy in Revelation 18:2-3 that the political and mercantile elites of the world in the latter days will be in an unholy alliance to benefit themselves at the expense of the rest of the world.

Readers of this blog know that I have warned for years that Revelation 17-18 predicts that at some point in the latter days of our age that global financial/monetary system will experience a huge global collapse (described in Revelation 18) which occurs suddenly (Rev. 18:10 and 19 prophecy it will occur in “one hour”). Given the electronic sophistication and interconnection of today’s markets, a cascading crisis could now turn into a global collapse within an hour. This was not possible until our modern digital market system came into being. The collapse of the global system will be deliberately caused by the active cooperation of “seven heads and ten horns” who will forcibly overthrow the current system (Rev. 17) and replace it with the prophesied global “beast” system (Rev. 17:9-12) which will hold sway for a mere 42 months before the end of this age occurs (Rev. 13:1-5). So Christians, do not despair! If this major prophecy is fulfilled in the months ahead of us, as some are specifically predicting, it means the end of this age and the return of Jesus Christ is drawing near and its arrival could be anticipated in a matter of months or a few years. The news that Jesus Christ will soon come and establish his millennial reign of peace would be the best news that could be given to mankind. However, we have evil years and events to experience on the earth before that time comes. For a thorough examination of the prophecy of Revelation 17-18, please read my article, Is Babylon the Great about to Fall…Ushering in a New Beast System?

I urge all readers to listen to or read the first four links to gain a composite view of the warnings being issued by secular sources before reading the last two links which are from religious sources whose predictions remarkably dovetail with the warnings of the secular sources in the first four links. The fifth link is a warning from Pastor Biltz, who was the first person to my knowledge who warned that there would be a series of “blood moons” occurring in the years 2014-2015 which would conclude in autumn of 2015. The sixth link is a warning message from Rabbi Jonathan Cahn, the author of the popular book, The Harbinger, which offers what he calls a “final warning to America” about judgments that are imminent. From a biblical perspective, one must admit that America’s leaders are in open defiance of God in matters involving abortion, removal of God from the schools and society, growing persecution of those who reverence God and his Word and now, finally, a president and a Supreme Court who have imposed “gay marriage” on the USA in spite of the fact the US Constitution gives the federal government’s branches no right to have any jurisdiction whatsoever over matters of “family law.” From a broad historical/biblical perspective, I cannot see that any of the most sinful rulers (Jeroboam, Ahab and Jezebel, Athaliah, Manasseh, etc.) of the ancient kingdoms of Israel and Judah ever openly proclaimed and imposed homosexual “marriage” on those ancient kingdoms. To have a president and supreme court of a “Covenant nation” descended from the ancient tribes of Israel impose homosexual “marriage” on a nation is unprecedented in human history as far as I can see. If judgment comes on America in September, October or succeeding months, the USA’s elites and leaders have rightly brought such Divine judgment on the nation. [For evidence that the USA is a Covenant nation descended from the ancient tribes of Israel, I invite you to obtain copies of my books and read my article, The USA in Bible Prophecy, both available at this website’s homepage.]

While I am personally not predicting any dates for prophetic fulfillments, it does appear that we are now living in a time when the likelihood of these prophecies being fulfilled has never been greater. Now for a key question: What should you do now and what should you do when this future time of trouble occurs (and it will occur eventually). I addressed this subject in considerable detail in my article, Should Christians Prepare for Future Hard Times? There is no need to repeat in this post the information that is available in that article. It offers a biblically-based perspective on whether and how Christians should prepare for hard times. I urge readers to review this article to see the biblical principles in taking personal action when a crisis is drawing near. When/if a major crisis occurs which disrupts the financial and societal norms that we take for granted, what should you do? First, I strongly urge that no one “lose their heads” and panic. If you read my article on this topic, I don’t think you will. Personally, I am not going to flee to some “bolt-hole” or remote fortress where one can take care of themselves and guard their supplies vs. all comers. Also, I am not relocating to any other nation. I’m going to continue living right where I am in the USA. True protection comes from the Divine Creator God of the Bible, not from being in any geographical place. Rely on God for protection and sustenance, not on yourself and your own strength, but also make common-sense preparations that you can do for yourself. Also, I urge the “Neighborhood Watch” type of approach–get to know your neighbors and pool your resources together in a spirit of cooperation and pulling together to get through any crisis. Be part of the solution. Work together with whatever civil authorities are functioning in your city and region to help every one in your neighborhood, city or region deal with any major crisis. Obviously, this approach will work better in some regions than others. I live in the Midwest where the pioneer spirit of neighbors helping each other in a crisis is still very much alive. That may not be true in a large metropolis.

In terms of specifics, the final link is from FEMA, an agency of the US government. This link includes many very useful tips about food and water preservation and usage in a crisis, including how to obtain safe water supplies in a crisis. It also includes a wise list of personal items that you should have on hand before any crisis hits to be sure that you are prepared to meet immediate personal needs in a survival situation. This is a very helpful list, and I urge all readers to review it and act on it now. A crisis could strike your city or region not only due to prophetic fulfillments, but also due to weather disasters such as earthquakes, hurricanes, tornadoes, floods, prolonged power outages, etc. FEMA’s list of necessities to stock up on is just as valid for any and all such occurrences. I’d add that the experience of Hurricane Katrina that hit New Orleans indicates that people needed far more than a few days of supplies to get through the crisis. At least several weeks of personal supplies were needed by many people. You should be heeding both biblical prophecies and FEMA’s warnings and preparing now…while you can. Once a disaster hits, it is too late to begin preparing. I’ll close with the apropos biblical advice from Proverbs 27:12 from the Living Bible translation. I don’t usually use this version of the Bible for research purposes, but I think its translation is most apt for our time. It reads: “A sensible man watches for problems ahead and prepares to meet them. The simpleton never looks, and suffers the consequences.” Let’s all be “sensible,” and prepare for what may come. Please read FEMA’s list and print out the wise advice in its link so you have a hard copy of its helpful tips in the future if you do not have electricity or internet access for a time.
