While the world is distracted with the pressing news about the Iraqi civil war and the exchange of an imprisoned (and dubiously credentialed) American soldier for five Taliban leaders, Iran has made a major announcement. It has declared to the world that it has ballistic missiles with much greater range than the West previously thought possible. Iran specifically has boasted that it can now hit the massive and super-secret American naval/air/intelligence base at Diego Garcia in the depths of the Indian Ocean with Iranian ballistic missiles. [Diego Garcia is an American military and intelligence base in the southern Indian Ocean near where the missing Malaysian airliner mysteriously vanished without a trace, but that is another story.]

Iran’s announcement is examined in these two links [1, 2], one from the American media and the other from the German media. Obviously, Iran is not building a ballistic missile to hit Diego Garcia with a warhead full of leaflets. It would be an enormous investment of money and effort to strike Diego Garcia with a ballistic missile that only has a conventional explosive warhead. Diego Garcia is a very vital American base and it is doubtlessly defended in depth from any conceivable threat–ballistic or supersonic cruise missiles, bomber attacks, etc. One Iranian missile is not likely to penetrate its defenses. The only way there is any logic to the Iranian threat is if their ballistic missiles will have nuclear warheads.

Iran has been stalling the diplomats from the US, the UN, the EU and other western nations for a long time as it pursues its nuclear weapons program. It makes little sense to develop ballistic missiles capable of delivering nuclear warheads unless you are also making the nuclear warheads. Iran has equivocated about this for a long time as it has bought much time for its nuclear weapons program to be pursued. As one expert observer is quoted in the second link, Iran’s leaders “are not negotiating and never have negotiated in good faith. They are taking us for fools.” I couldn’t agree more. Iran’s leaders have simply been deceiving western negotiators with clever words and occasional partial actions as they pursue the development of nuclear weapons.

In a larger sense, Diego Garcia and other vital American Pacific bases such as Guam are already in a nuclear bulls-eye and have been for many years. Russia and China have doubtlessly targeted these American bases with their nuclear ballistic missiles which would be fired in the opening stages of any future World War III, which the Bible prophesies in Ezekiel 38-39 is certain to happen at the end of this age called “the latter days” or “the latter years” in many biblical prophecies. Ezekiel 38 uses this terminology in verses 8 and 16. Ezekiel 38:2-6 name the nations which will form the latter-day Gog-Magog alliance which will launch a surprise “Pearl Harbor-like” attack vs. the modern nations of the house of “Israel” (the ten tribes–the USA, the UK and many NATO nations, etc.). Iran appears on the prophesied Gog-Magog list in Ezekiel 38:2-6 as “Persia.” Russia appears on the list as Meshech and Tubal as well as Gog and Magog and China can be seen as “Gomer and all his bands.” Gomer is one of the sons of Japheth and this branch of the human family was prophesied to have a very large population (Genesis 9:27, 10:2-5). “Gomer and all his bands” designates a very large Japhethic (Oriental) nation with many tribes or bands within its borders. During the Beijing Olympics, China highlighted how many tribes or bands were represented within its borders. If I recall correctly, China has over 40 tribes or bands within its borders. Geopolitically, China has become a very militarily powerful and bellicose nation as well as an ally of Russia and Iran, unmistakably fulfilling the prophesied role of “Gomer and all his bands” in the modern world.

Russia and China surely have not only nuclear ballistic missiles aimed at Diego Garcia, Guam and other US bases, but their submarines can surface not far from those bases and launch a surprise attack with salvos of cruise missiles. Iran’s new ballistic missiles simply mean these American bases are now threatened by the missiles of three nations in the Gog-Magog alliance. I certainly hope that these bases are heavily defended with layered defenses vs. both ballistic and cruise missiles. If they aren’t, then everything and everyone on those bases will be “toast” when World War III breaks out at some point in a future year. I make no predictions when this war will occur. Personally, I think this biblically prophesied attack is years off yet, but I could be wrong. For a detailed examination of the Bible’s prophecies about World War III, please read my article, What Ezekiel 38-39 Reveal about a Future World War III. The Bible’s latter-day prophecies have been fulfilled so precisely, there is no doubt a super Creator Being authored these biblical prophecies and is bringing them to pass now. It is bizarre that at a time when the Bible’s prophecies are being fulfilled in the modern world so precisely–proving the Bible is the Word of a Divine Creator–that mankind is so universally blind to this fact. Only those who have read and understood the Bible have their eyes open to what is actually transpiring in world geopolitics.
