Previous postings at this blog have noted a growing trend that India is drawing closer to the USA and the Western nations. A posting on May 2, 2007 at this blog site (see archives) includes a discussion of India’s role in prophecy and details evidence that India is the nation called “Sheba and Dedan” in Ezekiel 38. Ezekiel 38 prophesies that while Russia, China and Iran will lead a military attack against the nations of the Western world, several Asian nations (Sheba and Dedan, Tarshish and the “young lions” thereof) will not be part of that anti-Western alliance.

Two recent developments have occurred which further indicate that India is the “Sheba and Dedan” of Ezekiel 38 which will be an ally of the Western nations (“the house of Israel”) in the latter days.

The first development was the culmination of a deal between the USA and India regarding nuclear fuel and technology. A July 28, 2007 Minneapolis Star-Tribune article entitled “U.S, India finalize nuclear trade pact,” stated that this unprecedented nuclear pact between India and the USA will lead to “increased defense cooperation.” President Bush noted the deal will “deepen our strategic partnership with India.” A strategic alliance between the USA and India may prove to be one of the most important achievements of the USA during the Bush administration.

The alliance makes geopolitical sense as both nations need each other. Hindu India is surrounded by nations which are either hostile or Islamic. India has fought wars with both China and Pakistan and both of these nations are nuclear powers. Pakistan and China have long been on friendly terms and if Pakistan slides into the radical Islamic camp after President Musharaff of Pakistan leaves office, India’s position will become even more precarious. India needs a major nuclear power as an ally. The USA, on the other hand, is faced with the challenge of a rapidly-militarizing alliance of Russia, China and Iran. The USA needs another key ally besides Japan in the Asian region. Both India and the USA are being pushed together by relentless forces in geopolitics and economics.

The second development was reported today at www.debka.com in a story: “India proposes collaborating with Israel on a new unmanned helicopter to counter Chinese C-802 missile.” The top admirals of India and Israel met in India to discuss joint development by their nations of an unmanned helicopter which would be developed and deployed to detect and defeat China’s C-802 shore-to-sea missile. An Israeli warship was hit by such a missile off the coast of Lebanon during last year’s war with Hezbollah. The Debka story stated: “Indian and Israeli warships face the same threat since Pakistan acquired C-802…missiles from China.” India and the Israelis are being united by the principle of “the enemy of my enemy is my friend.” The Debka story also confirms the growing military ties between Pakistan and China, both of which are longstanding rivals to India.

In drawing closer to both the USA and the Israelis via strategic nuclear and alliances and joint military programs, India is allying itself with both the modern nations of the “house of Israel” and the “house of Judah” (using biblical terms for modern nations). Who, just a few decades ago, would have thought that such alliances would develop? Actually, this development was prophesied by the Creator who authored the Bible over 25 centuries ago. Because there really is a Creator who is guiding world events toward predetermined, prophesied destinies, it behooves everyone to understand the Bible. The prophecies of the Bible cannot possibly be accurately grasped until one correctly understands which modern nations have descended from which biblically-named ancient nations and tribes. Once these national connections are clear, modern geopolitics are very predictable. Those who understand the Bible’s prophecies know much about how the future will unfold (II Peter 1:19). Those who understand the dangers revealed in biblical prophecy also have an obligation to act as “watchmen” and warn others about what is coming (Ezekiel 33:1-9).
