Presidential candidate Newt Gingrich, in a national GOP presidential candidate debate, warned the nation about the grave dangers posed to the USA by the detonation of an Electro-Magnetic Pulse (EMP) weapon over the American homeland. The link below discusses former Speaker Gingrich’s warning and adds the warning of a former Science Advisor to President Ronald Reagan about this threat.
I marvel that the ignorance about this very real threat is so great that the commentators at the debate thought Gingrich’s comments were “outside the box” until they realized the threat was as real as Gingrich said when they finally were challenged by Gingrich’s comments to research it. Newt Gingrich is the only presidential candidate (or national leader that I know of) who is warning the nation about this catastrophic threat to our nation and society. An EMP blast would knock out all electronic technology anywhere within its event horizon, effectively putting all areas affected by the blast into the pre-electricity era instantly. I wrote a post on this subject, dated 10-14-2011, so I will not repeat what I wrote in that previous post. Suffice it to say that a number of enemy nations have this capability and that Iran has successfully tested missiles to launch such warheads and has announced its intention to station an Iranian warship off the US east coast. Will that ship have EMP-tipped missiles at some future date?
I urge you to read the article and allow the gravity of the threat to sink into your consciousness as several technical experts add their voices to Speaker Gingrich’s warning. As Dr. William Graham, President Reagan’s Science Advisor, notes: the effects of an EMP attack would be “something you might imagine life to be like around the late 1800s, but with several times the population we had in those days and without the ability of the country to support and sustain all those people.” He added that “starvation would be a distinct possibility.” That is a classic understatement! I think it would be a certainty as the capacity to refrigerate food would cease, the ability of modern trucks to transport food would cease, farm tractors would cease to function, electricity would be knocked out in seed-production facilities, etc.
While I hope that an EMP attack will never occur, its effects would be so devastating that everyone should make some reasonable advance preparations for such an event to ensure their families could survive. See my October 14th post (mentioned above) for essential technical information and also read my article: Should Christians Prepare for Future Hard Times?, available at this website. My 10-14 blog also cites a book, One Second After, a New York Times Bestseller title, which graphically describes the dire effects of an EMP attack against the USA. Guess who wrote the foreword to the book? You guessed it. Newt Gingrich.
The article states that no other GOP candidate has warned the American public about this danger (Indeed, I’ll bet some of them didn’t even know about it). President Obama hasn’t warned the American people about it. Congress has confirmed the dangers of an EMP, but has made no serious effort to warn the American people. I can’t recall any media story warning the nation about it either. Three cheers for Gingrich for warning the complacent American people about this danger.
