Amidst the current turmoil over global tariffs and trade war issues, there is an important item which caught my eye that I’d like to share with readers of this blog. This item has the potential to be very important in international political and financial affairs.
This post is devoted to the apparently growing likelihood that Germany will soon call upon the U.S. Federal Reserve Board to repatriate to Germany 1,200 tons of German gold stored in the Fed’s vaults for decades. That is a lot of gold! The media has just begun to follow this story. The links cited below offer different perspectives on this impending request by Germany. The first link reports on the growing pressures within Germany to have the German gold repatriated to Germany. At the very least, the Germans may call for Bundesbank representatives to inspect and count the bars of German gold in the Fed’s possession. The ill will created by the current tariff battles between nations will only serve to further motivate the German Central Bank to demand its gold back from the U.S. Federal Reserve Board.
A few years ago I wrote a detailed post about a scandal that had been uncovered in the global gold markets. Recently there was also a flurry of news stories that the U.S. Congress would like to audit the gold stored at Ft. Knox. In my previous post (see second link) I pointed out that gold bars in repositories around the world were finding fake gold bars that looked like real gold bars on the outside. These fake bars were made of copper or tungsten and these bars were painted on the outside with a thin layer of gold paint. They would gleam as if they were real gold bars, but a forensic test of such bars will easily uncover the fake bars. My earlier post cited a Chinese repository that thought it was storing 83 tons of gold bars found out it was actually storing 83 tons of fake gold bars. If readers have not done so, I strongly urge you to read my post in the second link for information on these previous gold storage scandals.
I suspect Germany wants to forensically examine the German gold stored in the U.S. Federal Reserve Board’s vaults to make sure their gold bars are real gold. Core boring tests could be done to determine if the bars are actually gold. Also, I’ll bet the Germans would have archived all the numbers on their gold bars shipped to the Federal Reserve for storage. If the Germans inspect and test the bars stored in New York, those inventory numbers on the gold bars better match Germany’s archived numbers on the gold bars sent to the USA. There will be a major global financial crisis if they do not match. Indeed, every nation storing gold at the Fed’s storage vaults will want a forensic testing of their gold bars as well. If the gold bars are all in order, such a crisis will be averted.
The third link reports the New York Fed’s vaults store gold from at least 31 nations. The real number isn’t exactly public information, I’d bet. That link also repeats the growing German desire to audit or repatriate its gold stored in the USA. The longer the tariff wars continue, the greater is the likelihood of Germany demanding its gold to be repatriated. The fourth link estimates the value of the German gold stored in the USA to be $113 billion Euros. It may even be a higher number. Only the USA and Germany know for sure.
The fourth link contains a very disturbing “expert” opinion. One such expert “expressed doubt that Washington would agree to give German gold back [to Germany.] That’s a shocking statement. It cites a possible unwillingness for “Washington” to give Germany its gold back, but the term “Washington ” indicates the US federal government. It is not the US federal government, but the New York Federal Reserve which is storing Germany’s gold. It would have to be the U.S. Federal Reserve which would need to repatriate Germany’s gold if requested to do so. If the Fed refuses to give Germany’s gold back to Germany, there could be an historic crisis in the credibility of the U.S. Federal Reserve Board itself. Germany has every right to get its own gold back that was merely being stored at the Fed’s New York vaults for “safety” during the Cold War. The longer the Fed delays to return Germany’s gold (if requested to do so), the greater the Fed’s reputation and trustworthiness will suffer a global drop. That could obviously lead to a global crisis in the value of the US dollar, and the credibility of the U.S. government itself. Every other nation will likely demand its gold back from the Fed if the Fed delays in repatriating Germany’s stored gold.
Why do nations want to amass gold and get control over their own gold at this time? There have been media reports for years that the BRICS nations desire to undermine the US dollar’s role as the global reserve currency. There have been periodic reports of Russia and China introducing a new gold-backed trading currency on world markets. If this happens, all nations will have a need for gold to back their own currencies. Does Germany want its gold back now to help back a gold-backed Euro? There is an old saying “he who has the gold makes the rules.” Maybe the USA doesn’t want to let go of any gold stored within the USA because a financial crisis might be brewing. On what basis could the USA deny repatriating German gold? Could the USA say: “given all the money the USA invested in the Marshall plan to rebuild Europe after World War II, we are keeping Germany’s gold as payment for rebuilding Germany after World War II.” If so, the global crisis will get really ugly. I’m not predicting what will happen; I’m simply warning about what the possibilities may be.
Biblical prophecy foretells that a major global financial/currency crisis will occur in the latter days of our current age before the return of Jesus Christ. Revelation 17-18 describe this future financial melt-down. I have written two free articles which help readers understand the prophecy of Revelation 17-18 in light of current world conditions and alliances. The primary article is entitled: Is “Babylon the Great” about to Fall…Ushering in a Global “Beast” System?, and the second article explains why the Bible calls our current global system “Babylon the Great.” It is entitled: The Babylonian Origin of the Modern Banking System.
