Less than a week into his presidency, Trump is making waves all over the global geopolitical and internal American landscapes. I had intended to write on something else in my next post, but an item caught my eye that I wanted to bring to readers’ attention right away.

As you know, Trump has instructed ICE and other agencies to capture the “worst of the worst” illegal aliens and deport them to their native nations. Indeed, why should US taxpayers feed, clothe and shelter them for many years? Needless to say, other nations are not terribly eager to accept the reentry of criminals into their original nations. Some nations may object to receiving the criminals they let into the USA. President Trump just took action to show he is very serious about moving criminal illegals back to their home nation.

American authorities sent two military planes loaded with Colombian nationals who were in the USA illegally. At first Colombia’s president balked at taking them back and wouldn’t allow the American planes to land in Colombia (first link). Trump immediately threatened a 25% tariff on all Colombian imports entering the USA and other measures unless Colombia changed its mind. After threats and counter threats regarding tariffs, Colombia’s president quickly changed course and will now allow the USA to return the illegals from Columbia to their nation of origin (second link). Indeed, the Colombian president even later said he would send a presidential plane from Colombia to fly the illegals home.

All the rest of the world just witnessed this happen. They now all realize President Trump is willing to throw America’s weight around in behalf of American interests. President Biden (or whoever was running his administration behind the scenes) was never willing to do this. Embedded in the above links is a story about Brazil allowing some of its nationals to be returned to Brazil after they were in the USA illegally. Mexico just witnessed Trump’s use of economic force vs. Colombia to compel them to accept Colombians who were in the USA illegally. Mexico has lots of people in the USA illegally, and Mexico surely now realizes that Trump is deadly serious about his threat to use tariffs against nations who try to refuse American efforts to ship their citizens back to them. It needs to be pointed out that Trump’s policies do not forbid legal immigration into the USA. If someone wants to legally enter the USA, they can apply to do so legally via a US Embassy or Consulate. Trump’s firm hand with Colombia shows all nations Trump “is not kidding” about implementing his campaign promises. Trump will not have to face the voters again so he is free to do whatever he thinks is right for the next four years and “let the chips fall where they may.”

The third link reiterates that Trump’s policy is to first find and remove the foreign criminals who are in the USA illegally. Reports I’ve seen on TV indicate that Tom Homan’s ICE agency has arrested thousands of such illegal criminals already. He is barely getting started. When this first stage of deportations is concluded, we can expect ICE and other federal agencies to find and deport the million+ foreigners who are in the USA illegally due to their staying in the USA after their visas expired. I’ve seen that figure of “a million+” in that category on televised news programs. There will also be the necessity of finding and removing the Iranian, Chinese and other hostile nations’ citizens who are in the USA illegally due to Biden’s nonsensical “catch and release” program. The Chinese and Iranian nationals who entered the USA this way are widely reported to be single, military-age males. Obviously, these people may be terrorists or implanted “sleeper cells” to be activated in any future war between the USA and its enemies. They need to be found and removed. ICE Director Homan will soon be getting vigorous help from the new Secretary of the Department of Homeland Security, Kristi Noem. She has been a capable governor in my home state of South Dakota for several years and has a record of helping Texas combat illegal immigration. Governor Noem sent the South Dakota National Guard more than once in recent years to help secure the border as best as possible given the federal government’s refusal to enforce its own immigration laws.

In a related issue, the new Secretary of State, Marco Rubio, quickly obtained the release of an American citizen being held in Belarus (fourth link), and implemented a Trump policy of suspending US foreign aid payments pending reviews (fifth link).  I think one very important factor in those reviews will be whether other nations allow the USA to land aircraft in their territories to bring illegals back to those nations. Clearly, the implied threat is that if other nations don’t take back their illegals and help stop the influx of gang members, traffickers and fentanyl into the USA, they will receive no foreign aid during Trump’s presidency. Pete Hegseth was just sworn in as the new Secretary of Defense and he is pledged to increase the lethality of the USA’s military and get rid of DEI programs in the military branches.

Clearly, in just one week, Donald Trump has changed the global outlook a great deal. All nations now know Trump will pursue a muscular military and trade policy with the rest of the world.  Look what has happened in just one week. Think what Trump will do in the rest of his presidency! In early November I posted that a little-known prophecy in Genesis 49:22-26 might be fulfilled via a Trump election to the presidency. After just one week of Trump being in office, that post currently looks like it is “spot on.” It is included as the sixth link.

It is going to be an interesting four years ahead of us!
