There is growing evidence that China may be seeking to provoke a confrontation with the USA and its Asian allies in the South China Sea. The first link reports that China is taking the very provocative move of building an airstrip in the Spratly Islands in the South China Sea. This airstrip will be large enough to host China’s military aircraft. The second link gives an additional perspective on this new Chinese airstrip in the making and adds that China is also conducting dredging operations at the same island to prepare it to handle tankers and preparing the island to receive large Chinese warships. The evidence seems clear that China is building a military air/sea base in the South China Sea which it expansively claims as its own maritime territory. China’s action is sure to greatly anger many nations in the region as well as the USA.
The third link reports that the USA, Japan and the Philippines recently conducted naval maneuvers in the same maritime region. No doubt, satellite surveillance of China’s port/airstrip project has convinced these three nations of China’s intent to place a permanent military base in the South China Sea, and these three nations likely conducted their joint naval maneuvers to warn China against proceeding with its bellicose plans. The fourth link also reports that not long ago, the Chairman of the US Joint Chiefs of Staff visited Vietnam on a goodwill visit which “signals that the United States and Vietnam want to forge closer military ties.” It adds that Vietnam and other regional nations have been “unnerved” by China’s military expansionism. It adds that China has moved a drilling rig into the South China Sea and sank a Vietnamese fishing boat earlier this year. These incidents are creating an environment where it would not take a great flash point to provoke a naval and air conflict in the region.
Personally, I think China no longer cares what the USA or other nations think about its military activities. It seems ever more evident that China wants a military confrontation and is taking specific actions that could easily eventually force a military incident between the Chinese and American [and allied] navies. As I’ve observed in previous posts, China has built a wide array of new weapons systems but they are all untested in actual combat. Chinese military personnel also have not been tested in serious combat conditions. Before China can move aggressively on the world scene in a military/political fashion, it must first know for sure if its new weapons systems will work as designed in actual combat conditions. In order to find that out, China needs to provoke an incident to test its weaponry vs. a US aircraft carrier battle group, the Japanese navy, etc.
The above alliance of nations which is coming together to oppose China fits precisely with what I have seen in Ezekiel 38-39’s prophecy about the respective opposing alliances that will form in the latter days. The prophesied alliances have either already formed or are forming as we watch modern geopolitics unfold. China’s aggressive actions fit the Ezekiel 38-39 scenario “spot on.” For more information about Ezekiel 38-39’s prophecies for our time, please read my articles, What Ezekiel 38-39 reveal about a Future World War III, Japan’s Role in Biblical Prophecy, and The United States in Biblical Prophecy.
