civilian-guardsThis post will discuss a development that I think many readers of this blog will find interesting. It is a story about a distinctly American kind of phenomenon that would be an impossibility in most other nations. Since this blog has readers from 120-130 nations each month, I think many non-Americans would like some commentary on this matter.

First some background comments: in most nations the military are heavily armed and the civilians have no weapons. In America, it is the military which has been almost entirely disarmed and it is the civilians who are heavily armed. Think about the oddity of that fact for a moment. As every reader no doubt knows, five members of the US military (4 marines and 1 sailor) were gunned down like sheep at the Navy Operational Support Center in Chattanooga, Tennessee, when they were attacked by an Islamic shooter. The military personnel were slaughtered because they were not allowed to carry any weapons to defend themselves. This situation is even more incomprehensible when we realize that this kind of atrocity has happened before. A few years ago, another Islamic shooter killed 22 US army military personnel on a military base because they too were all unarmed (by order of the US government). Incredibly, the US government, even though it knows that US military personnel could be attacked by “lone wolf” Islamic shooters who are being radicalized by such groups as ISIL/ISIS, still is not allowing US military personnel to protect themselves. This is absurd. Military personnel are trained to handle weaponry responsibly and professionally. They should be be armed now that radical Islamic groups have them under threat.

Because President Obama and the US Defense Department still do not allow US military recruiters (or many other types of on-duty military personnel) to defend themselves against Islamic (or other) attackers, patriotic American civilians have asserted their Second Amendment right to bear arms and have decided to protect US military personnel themselves–posting themselves in potential harms way directly outside military recruitment centers. A wave of US governors have also issued orders for their state’s National Guard members to be armed in the aftermath of the Chattanooga shooting, as the first link reports. In an informational note to non-American readers, each of the 50 US states has a military force under the leadership of each state’s governor. They can be called out to respond to weather disasters and any kind of situation that could threaten the security of each state’s citizens and property. They can back up the US federal military when necessary. The states’ National Guards have army, navy and air force specialties and train on the same weaponry used by the national US military forces. For example, in my state and city, the South Dakota Air National Guard flies combat F-16s. The USA has individual states with National Guard forces that are more heavily armed and formidable than some foreign nations’ organized military forces.

The first link lists 13 states that have already armed their National Guards and a later link indicates another state, Utah, may also soon do so. It is not only conservative states that are taking this action. Deeply liberal California has joined this movement and other states that voted for Obama in the most recent election have done so as well. These civilian protective actions are especially strong in Texas (second link), but civilians in many states (besides the ones where governors have armed their National Guards) have also taken up arms to protect military personnel. This has happened in my home state of South Dakota (third link). There are many media stories on this development, and I’ve included the fourth link to give readers many press options to review. The fifth link (from the British Daily Mail website) refers to the armed American citizens as “vigilantes.” In America, I think I speak for most Americans when I say we regard them as selfless “heroes.” The British nation has largely disarmed their citizens so they are as helpless as sheep in the event of a terrorist attack. Americans are far more likely to be able to defend themselves. The first link reports that some policeman are also joining the effort to protect US military personnel, and the sixth link mentions a thwarted terrorist attack that some non-Americans may not have heard about. Two terrorists (claimed by ISIL as their own) with body armor and assault weapons were about to gun down innocent Texans when a Texas policeman, armed with only a pistol, quickly shot them both dead before they killed anyone. There is a phrase known in America which is: “Don’t mess with Texas.” There is some truth in that statement. As the Texas police officer demonstrated, in Texas they can shoot fast and they shoot straight.

Amazingly, the hopelessly politically-correct US Defense Department issued a statement that the armed civilians protecting US military personnel should be seen as security threats (see seventh link). Sigh. What can you expect from a Defense Department hierarchy that is far more preoccupied with making the US military safe for homosexuals and trans-gender humans than with protecting the lives of its own personnel?

Now let’s consider a possible biblical consideration involving the US Constitution’s Second Amendment, which gives American civilians the right to own and bear arms. Ezekiel 38-39 states that when the Russian-Chinese-Iranian alliance (i.e. The Gog-Magog alliance) invades the territory of the modern ten tribes of Israel, God has already told the Israelites in advance that he is authorizing them to grab their weapons and fight back against the invaders (Ezekiel 38:21). Ezekiel 38:21 makes the Israelite response a true “Holy War” against the invaders. This prophecy would make no sense if the Israelites being invaded were disarmed and did not have weaponry close at hand with which to fight. As readers of my books and articles already know, the principal nation of the modern ten tribes of the House of Israel is the United States of America. It was founded mostly by the tribe of Manasseh (please read my free article, The USA in Bible Prophecy, for a quick overview of the major documentation presented in my books). While many of the modern tribes of Israel are located in Europe and Scandinavia, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, etc., most of those nations have disarmed civilians who do not have any ready weaponry to use against invaders. They must look like easy prey to an invader. However, the Israelite land attacked in Ezekiel 38 has armed inhabitants who have ready access to lots of weapons (“swords” in Old Testament language). It is the USA to which Ezekiel 38:21’s instructions from God are most apt.

Acts 15:18 states: “Known unto God are all his works from the beginning of the world.” The Creator God plans for events centuries, millennia and ages in advance of their occurrence. When the USA was founded and its Constitution written, I believe God inspired that document. God knew the USA would be attacked in the end of this age and Ezekiel 38 was written millennia before the USA came into existence, but God made sure the US Constitution would enable all Americans to be “in the fight” quickly when their nation was invaded by Russia, China, Iran and their allies at the end of this age. Indeed, we Americans can quickly arm the Canadians retreating southward from the Gog-Magog army attacking from the north and quickly teach them how to use firearms. [The Canadians are one of the modern nations of the Israelite tribe of Ephraim, as documented in my books]. Ezekiel 38:15 prophesies this invasion force will come down on the Israelite land from the north, which is exactly how Russia and China would have to invade North America. They would have to first invade Alaska and then send invasion forces southward through Canada toward the USA from seized airbases, ports and landing strips in Alaska. Joel 2 also prophesies about an invading army from the north which attacks the land of latter-day “Israel” (the ten tribes). Joel 2:20 prophesies this invading army will eventually be defeated and it will come to its end in a land located between an eastern and a western sea. What modern nation is called the “land from sea to shining sea?” It is the USA. Many Christians mistakenly think Ezekiel 38-39 and Joel 2 refers to the Israeli nation, but that is not correct because God uses the term “Judah” when he refers to the Israelis/Jews in the latter days (as in Zephaniah 2, Zechariah 12 and 14). The term “Israel” refers to the ten tribes of Israel.

I am not predicting when the Gog-Magog invasion of North America will occur, but when it does, the Creator God has already prophesied many details about it and declared in advance the invading Gog-Magog alliance will lose. Indeed, it will lose so badly that they will suffer a KIA percentage of 83.3% (Ezekiel 39:6). However, the invaders will lose that badly because of the Divine intervention that defeats them. There is an implication in Ezekiel 38 and Joel 2 that if God did not intervene to rescue the latter-day ten tribes of Israel, the invaded Israelites might lose. Matthew 24:22 indicates that war will not stay conventional, but will devolve into using weapons of mass destruction on each other’s homelands. That prophecy of Jesus Christ says no one would be left alive unless he intervened to stop the imminent destruction of the human race.

Whenever the Gog-Magog invasion of North America occurs, there are tens of millions of armed Americans who will be most eager to kill their soldiers when they arrive. God prophesied over 2,500 years ago that they would have weapons close at hand to use, and the USA’s Second Amendment prepared the way for that prophecy to be fulfilled. The fact that armed American civilians have now spontaneously grabbed their guns to protect their own unarmed military forces reveals an American willingness to take up arms very quickly in an emergency. The “Minuteman” Spirit of our Revolutionary War remains alive and well.
