As readers of my books and blogs know, the ancient empires and kingdoms of the migrating ten tribes of Israel have either been eliminated or downgraded in historical accounts so their real impact on world history is not realized today. These Israelite empires have included the Phoenician Empire (an alliance of the ten tribes of Israel with Tyre and Sidon), Carthage, Scythia and Parthia. Another example of ignoring the Israelite role in world history just took place in a major publication: the June, 2008 issue of National Geographic magazine.

In an article entitled “Afghanistan’s Hidden Treasures,” National Geographic mentions many of the ancient peoples who inhabited and ruled Afghanistan in ancient times (Hellenist Greek, Buddhist and Hindu powers from India, Kushan and Islamic powers, etc.), but it fails to mention anything about the Israelite empires and kingdoms which dominated Afghanistan for centuries. The main focus of the article is about a treasure trove of “Bactrian Gold” which was found to be safe after it was presumed lost. Entire books have been written about the fabulous skills of the Scythians in their artistic gold metalwork, and the Scythian influence was dominant in Afghanistan for centuries. A sword hilt, a golden collar and a golden ram featured in the National Geographic article all exhibit the famous Scythian artwork style in their intricate patterns and detail. Any large college or city library ought to have a book about the gold metalwork of the ancient Scythians. One such book in my library is Scythian Art, by Boris Piotrovsky, Liudmila Galanina and Nonna Grach. In their artwork, the Scythians consistently depict themselves as Caucasians.

The ancient Scythians were also called the “Sacae,” preserving the name of “Isaac,” their Hebrew patriarch whose name was prophesied by God to remain on many of Isaac’s descendants (Genesis 21:12). These Sacae Scythians emerged in the Black Sea region soon after a large body of migrating Israelites fled there to avoid an Assyrian captivity which befell some of their fellow tribes. The Scythians eventually destroyed the Assyrian Empire, invaded and conquered much of known Asia and twice defeated the Achaemenid Persian Empire in massive wars. Yet history preserves much detail about the losers of these wars (Assyria and Persia) and almost nothing about the victorious Scythian Empire. Curious, isn’t it?

Let’s look more closely at the name “Bactria” after which the “Bactrian gold” was named. Alexander the Great established a Greek kingdom in Bactria, but it was later absorbed by Scythian and Parthian rulers. The Parthian tribes were related to the Scythian tribes and they shared a common culture. To make a long story short, the Scythians were generally descended from the ten tribes of Israel who fled to the Black Sea region from the Promised Land to escape an Assyrian captivity, and the Parthians were the descendants of the ten tribes who did go into the Assyrian captivity. These Israelites were all prophesied to grow exceedingly large in population after their removal from the Promised Land (Hosea 1:10), and Josephus records that their numbers in Asia were large beyond count by the 1st century AD (Antiquities, XI, V, 2). Isaiah 14:2 prophesied the captive Israelites would eventually rise to rule over their captors and this prophecy was fulfilled when the Parthian Empire ruled over the Assyrians, Babylonians and Persians.

When the capital of ancient Israel, Samaria, fell to the Assyrians, II Kings 17:5-6 records that the last Israelite defenders were transplanted to the region of the Medes (now northern Iran). Samaria was in the territory of the Israelite tribe of Ephraim, and one would expect many of the last wave of Israelite captives to be from the tribe of Ephraim. Numbers 26:35-37 also records that the tribe of Ephraim was subdivided into four clans, three of which were named the Bachrites, the Eranites and the Tahanites. In later centuries, three powerful tribes of the Scythian-Parthian alliance were the Bactrians, the Eranians and the Dahanites. Notice the striking similarity in the names of the Ephraimite clans and the Scythian-Parthian tribes. These tribes were all clans of the same Israelite tribe of Ephraim grown into exceedingly great numbers. The term “Eran” is an archaic one from which is derived the name of the modern nation of “Iran.” Interestingly, the nation of Iran (although it is now Persian, not Israelite) is still known by the name of a clan of the Israelite tribe of Ephraim which used to live in that region. “D” and “T” are related (and often interchangeable) consonants even as “P” and “B” were often interchangeable consonants in the ancient world, making the Dahanites and the Tahanites the same Ephraimite clan. Bactria was derived from the Ephraimite clan name of the “Bachrites.” I doubt you will ever see the Israelite origin of all these names in any history book.

In the post-Parthian period,  Afghanistan was also ruled for a time by the “White Huns,” a name given to them to differentiate this “Caucasian” tribe from the other Mongoloid Huns of Asia. The Encyclopedia Britannica  (1943 Ed., Vol. 8, p. 646) records the White Huns were also called “Ephthalites” or “Nephthalites” by ancient historians. Either name preserves the distinctively-Israelite name of the tribe of Naphtali, which was taken captive by Assyria and relocated in one single mass into Asia years before the fall of Samaria. The White Huns who ruled Afghanistan for a time were the Israelite tribe of Naphtali. The Scythians and Parthians did not forget their Israelite origins. During the time of the Parthian Empire (circa 250 BC- 227 AD), one Parthian city located southeast of the Caspian Sea was named “Samariane” (Ancient History by George Rawlinson, p. 475), preserving the exact name of the capital city of Samaria in the Israelite ancestral homeland in the old Promised Land.

Paul accurately prophesied in Romans 1:28 that a time would come when the world would not want “to retain God in their knowledge.” Paul further prophesied this time would also be marked by the world refusing to acknowledge the reality of the Creator. Romans 1:25 foretells mankind  would “…change the truth of God into a lie and worship and serve the creature more than the Creator.” This prophecy has come to pas in the modern world! The “lie” about which Paul prophesied is called the theory of evolution, which pretends that all the complex and interdependent life forms on earth gradually came to pass by a statistically-impossible accident. The world has invented a new deity (i.e. “natural selection”) to replace the true Creator who made all things. The Bible’s detractors spuriously declare that the Bible is an unscientific book. Nonsense! If you desire to see the Bible’s creation accounts explained and reconciled with modern scientific thinking, you may see the evidence in my article “Is the Earth 6,000 Years Old?,” available at the Articles link at this website.

The National Geographic article is a further example of today’s intelligentsia “not wanting to retain God in their knowledge.” The truth about the Israelite origin of many ancient nations is easily obtainable in the historical record, but this knowledge has been deleted from the history texts taught to modern students. If you desire to know the truth about the Israelite migrations, empires and kingdoms in the ancient world (and also which modern nations have Israelite origins), exhaustive evidence can be found in the author’s books available through the book links at this website or via the publisher’s website at: www.bibleblessings.net.

The modern world doesn’t “want to retain God in its knowledge.” However, God is very much alive and in control of the overall destiny of world events. God is not going to go way just because a prideful mankind wants to pretend he doesn’t exist. The Bible prophesies that God will again intervene directly in world affairs at the end of this age, whether mankind wants him to do so or not. If you wish to examine what the Bible has to say about how current world geopolitics will unfold in future years, you may access my article, “What Ezekiel 38-39 Reveals about a Future World War III,” also available at this website.
